The fact that no one has made a post on this yet is a tad disappointing, but oh well.
I am 143% you've heard of this game already, but just in case you haven't and live under a rock in a cave on Jupiter, Overwatch is a MOBA-esque FPS game that revolves around teamwork (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA), controlling different objectives (that your team will ignore) while having a choice of 22 different characters (3 of which your team will actually use), separated into 4 different classes to play as, all with different and unique abilities. Each game is a 6v6, and the different objectives that can appear are as follows: King of the Hill (you already know, but it's fighting to capture a point, and once captured defending it. ex. Ilios), Capture/Defend the Point (if attacking, you try to defeat the defenders and claim the objective to win, and if defending you try to hold off the attackers until time runs out. ex. Hanamura), and Escort/Defend the Payload (if attacking, you try to keep an object moving until it arrives at its destination, if defending you try to keep the attackers from it until time runs out. ex. Route 66). There are, however, some maps that combine CtP and EtP such as Eichenwald and King's Row, where you must capture a point THEN deliver a payload or vice versa.
The main way to play this game is through "Quick Play," which just throws you into a game with people of your skill level, which increases the more you play, and at around level 25 you unlock "Competitive" mode, which throws you into a game with people around your rank, which is a more accurate sign of how good you are. Every week they release different event-style game modes known as "Brawls." These can range from only playing as characters from a specific class, or only playing on a different map, to who knows what else! The other two options are 'Custom Games," and "Practice," which are exactly as they sound.
And similar to how games like CS:GO and TF2 have crates, which when you unlock give different items, Overwatch has loot boxes, which you get each time you level up, or when you purchase them. When opened, which you don't need to buy a key to do so, you can get various different cosmetic items, such as different character skins, different sprays that you can put places in-game, voice lines for the characters, and player icons.
I don't care what anyone else says, this game is one of the most fun games I've played in a long while, and I'd wholeheartedly recommend it.
